Border Masculinities, which will be held at Lancaster University on 19/20th September 2014 will bring together scholars from a wide range of specialism to discuss spatial and conceptual borders with regard to the representation of masculinities. Papers will be delivered that consider masculinities in Britain, in Europe, in North and Latin America, and how the condition of the border can be seen to open up analysis and discussion of forms of masculinity in literature, film and other cultural representation.
Current debates about masculinities will be challenged with innovative comparative analyses that re-consider the ways men and masculinity have been conceptualised across a number of different disciplines.
We aim to publish a selection of these papers in a leading journal. Further events and networking opportunities are planned.
All are welcome; we particularly encourage postgraduate students with interests in contemporary masculinities to attend and participate in the discussions.
